I visited 2 locations in 2 days. The first area on the 1st day was a complete bust with very poor water conditions and high winds. The next day I found a very nice area that was a great turnaround from the day before. I will be comparing the 2 areas in this report and explain where the fish were holding and why.

I had the pleasure of fishing with Matt Davis this past Sunday. We fished from his 22ft Pathfinder bay boat and had a lot of action. Here are the details of this trip to some new areas neither of us had ever been to before.

On this trip it turned out to be a super foggy morning as I was targeting some sandbars and flats. The bite was very slow and started to gradually pick up as the sun started burning off the fog later in the morning and into the afternoon. I managed to get a decent red and some trout. I had a very fun exploration trip where I went WAY off the beaten path to check out a hidden lake that I have wanted to fish for a long time. It is a long paddle from the nearest launch, and I finally had an open day to give it a shot.

I had a morning open so I decided to take the paddleboard to explore an area for some big snook... sight-fishing for big snook is an absolute thrill, and the conditions seemed right for this area.

I focused on a nice area to fish with a lot of grass and islands in Mosquito Lagoon. The day turned out to be a lot windier than forecasted, but I was able to find some reds and catch a few as well. Check out the full report!

This trip was the morning after a Super Moon and I was able to find a good amount of redfish and black drum, but they were not willing to cooperate. A trout saved the day! On this trip I found a huge school of over slot Black Drum and was able to catch quite a few on artificial. This video will include some great tips and tactics for sight fishing these schools on the flats. Check out the full report!

We had a fun meet-up over in Tampa to kick off the new year, and the weather threw us a curve ball... a severe cold front pushed through the day before the meet leaving us with extremely cold conditions.

I made a trip to Cucumber Island on Mosquito Lagoon in search of some fish warming themselves up from the recently strong cold front that came through. I was able to find some trout and reds hanging out in muddy areas. Click to view the report!
