3 Casts Every Inshore Angler Must Master

Most anglers think they need a better lure… or a better spot.

But sometimes that’s not the problem.

I see it a lot on the water… guys are in the right area, fish are around… and they still can’t get bit.

Why?

Because their lure never actually gets where the fish are staged.

And that almost always comes down to one thing…

their cast.

So I’m breaking down three casts that will help you fix that, plus a bonus cast.

Not just to cast farther…

But to put your lure exactly where it needs to be to get more bites.

Final Thoughts:

If you feel like you’re doing everything right… but still not getting the results you want, take a closer look at your casting.

Master these, and you’ll start putting your lure where fish actually are.

And when that happens, everything changes.

I first learned to fly cast using a book by Joan Wulff who was a tournament distance and accuracy champion in her day. One thing I learned that helps when using the dart style cast for spinning rods is to place your thumb on top of the rod blank, pointing down the rod length. Then take the rod back to load it and bring it forward with a quick stop allowing the rod blank to unload the stored energy and with the thumb pointing to your release point for the line. Pointing my thumb at the target is, for me, the most accurate way I have learned to cast.
