haven’t caught a fish on it yet (only been out with it once and it was a quick outing) but I absolutely love the way it looks in the water!

How does it do in open bay area
The initial testing was done in Tampa Bay which is a bay with a TON of fishing pressure, and this lure performed exceptionally well. You’ll of course just need to be fishing the shallow zones of the bay as this lure holds very close to the surface.
Down here by Ft. Myers , the water is so warm we haven’t caught anything on a Topwater in the last month and we’ve thrown many. Caught several really impressive trout for this area on slow worked paddles and shrimp imitations. They were in the areas we expect to have success in on top but no even a tap except the occasional ladyfish.
Am starting up again with open swims along beaches in Juno/Jupiter. Years ago while doing same I discovered several bigger gamefish lurking in troughs close to beach.
Ended up spending many successful mostly late afternoon-sunset summer days throwing cast net a couple times and loading up 14 gallon live-well with juvenile greenies and menhaden. Practicing catch-and-release I’ve caught several species from barracuda to tarpon.
Getting closer to the point….sargassum and other weeds have gotten so bad in recent years it makes cleaning out castnet before going to bed nightmarish. I’ve tried weedless soft plastics only to have juvenile barracudas render them useless after a couple of casts….

Can the Simonds Brothers recommend some of your hardbodies, and colors for a more portable/efficient/cleaner method than my past live bait successes?
If weeds aren’t bad, then plugs like the skinny lipper work great in the surf for a variety of species. But if the weeds are bad, it’s tough to beat weedless soft plastics because anything with exposed hooks will snag the weeds much more often than a cuda messing up a soft plastic.
Note: For cuda prevention, I recommend throwing Prawn USA lures rigged on a 1/4 or 1/2 oz Hoss Weedless Football jighead so that you can get down on the bottom where predators like snook, tarpon, flounder, etc. will be the primary catches (cudas most often feed on finfish up off of the bottom).
