This Casting Trick Can Save Your Next Trip – The Dart Cast

One of the most frustrating feelings in fishing is getting everything right, finding the fish, sneaking into position, only to make a sloppy cast that lands on a fish’s head and sends it fleeing.
Casting accuracy and stealth are two things we have 100% control over, which is why practicing the right technique is so important.
The dart cast is designed to:
-
Deliver long, pinpoint-accurate casts with minimal movement
-
Keep your boat, kayak, or wading area still (no water pulses that spook fish)
-
Load the rod efficiently using the lure’s momentum
-
Maximize casting distance by using both hands as a lever
Practice this technique in your yard or at a nearby park until it feels natural, then take it on the water and watch your hookup rate skyrocket.

Here’s something most anglers overlook: your rod matters more than just about any other piece of equipment.
A good rod gives you:
-
The sensitivity to feel subtle strikes
-
The right action to place accurate casts
-
The ability to handle big fish when you hook up
That’s why we created the Slam Stick Inshore Rod Bundle; it’s the perfect starting point for beginners who want to make casting easier and land more fish.

Great video. As an experienced (I’ve been fishing for 65 years) angler I really appreciate all the detail and explanations.
I will try this. I have always used a one-handed dart cast.

Thanks for making time to post a nice comment Michael.
Gonna try this with red drum season starting in VA.
Keep us posted on how you do.
This was my first lesson after joining SS last year. I think that after finding the fish, this might be #2. I’ve been blessed with good hand-eye coordination and have really learned to feather my line to drop it where I want. That is in the same mini-course on casting. The only reason I have confidence in my casting today is because I fish/cast a lot. If anyone wants to get better at casting, it’s gonna take repetition!
We’re so glad to see that you’re enjoying this casting technique.
