One Lure Change Turned a Slow Morning Into an 80” Slam

Some fishing days test your patience.
We started the morning in Cedar Key with perfect conditions, light winds, and a gorgeous sunrise, but the fish just were not cooperating. I was stubbornly throwing hard plugs, confident they would connect. Meanwhile, Lisa Fitzgerald, fishing right next to me, was quietly stacking up trout and reds on a shrimp lure.
After getting beat for the third time in a row, I finally made the switch. That is when everything changed.
Within minutes of tying on the Prawn USA, the bite went from silent to non-stop. By the end of the day, we had trout, redfish, and capped it off with an overslot snook for an 80-inch slam.
This trip was a reminder that sometimes it is not the spot, the tide, or the weather. It is simply the lure.
