Tips To Stop Losing Fish During A Fight

I have found several factors help make a big difference in how many fish i land one being making sure ALL your hooks are as sharp as you can get them second is checking your line for Knicks and frays to many anglers think that just because they use braid because it’s much stronger then mono that they don’t need to check it as often it gives them a sence of false hope so to speak well thats the key word false hope because all line gets nicked or cut sp it should be checked often third ones drag should never be to loose or tight or obviously with to loose setting the hook can be difficult and to tight you could break the line or on a very large fish even straighten the hook point and a final thought when fishing especially for redfish around thick grass or weeds I usually after setting the hook put my trolling motor on high and steering the fish out into open water away from the weeds when I first started fishing inshore saltwater I would hook alot of reds only to have them run straight into the weeds where they can use the weeds as leverage to pull the hook loose after discovering this technique I have found as long as you get a good hookset and all the other items I just mentioned like no nicks in the line and a good frag set with sharp hooks usually I very seldom loose one but obviously one can cover all the bases and still loose it because fishing is fishing and it’s only catching when the fish is finally landed but until then it’s fishing and NO one is perfect because obviously if we all caught fish and never lost any the ones not kept would be virtually impossible to catch on acct of them getting to know what’s real and what’s not and if everyone kept every fish then obviously the stocks and species would surely become extinct in a very short amount of time but thanks for the advice Tony and for all you do😀👍
