Spring Break season is upon us!
And whether you’re traveling somewhere warm, or taking a mini-trip to get away from the crowds, ONE THING remains true…
You should definitely bring a fishing rod with you.
Being near the water without your fishing gear is pure torture.
That’s why we took our most popular inshore rod and created a travel version so you can bring it anywhere and customize the power and action based on the type of fishing you’ll be doing.
In this video, I break down the Slam Stick Traveler and why it’s designed for anglers who want to fish anywhere they go without settling for a “wet noodle” travel rod.
Featured Gear:
The Slam Stick Traveler Spinning Rod is a premium 7’6″ travel rod designed to perform like a full-size inshore rod while packing down into a compact travel case. Its interchangeable midsections and tips allow you to create four different setups, letting you adjust the power and action depending on how and where you’re fishing. The entire system fits into a durable airline-friendly case so you can travel with a high-performance rod wherever the trip takes you.
The Slam Stick Traveler Spinning Combo pairs the customizable Traveler rod with the lightweight Otis 2500 spinning reel and premium braided line so you’re ready to fish right out of the case. The combo maintains the rod’s four adjustable configurations while giving you a balanced setup designed for inshore species like redfish, trout, and snook. Everything stores neatly in the included travel case, making it easy to bring a complete fishing setup on planes, road trips, or vacations.
Ultimate Traveler System Bundle:
The Ultimate Traveler System Bundle is a full travel-ready system built around the Slam Stick Traveler rod and Otis 2500 reel, plus a selection of proven lures and gear used by anglers across the Salt Strong community. It gives you a customizable 7’6″ rod capable of four different power and action combinations while also covering the tackle you need for redfish, trout, snook, and flounder. The bundle is designed for anglers who want a complete travel fishing setup without having to piece everything together separately.
Key Takeaways
- Most travel rods sacrifice performance, often feeling soft and unresponsive when throwing artificial lures.
- The Slam Stick Traveler was designed specifically for lure fishing, keeping the crisp, responsive feel anglers expect when working soft plastics and plugs.
- You can customize the rod’s power by swapping sections to fish it as either a medium light or medium depending on the situation.
- Two interchangeable tips let you choose between a fast or moderate fast action for throwing lures or fishing live bait.
- The entire setup packs down into a compact, airline-friendly travel case that’s easy to bring on trips.
- Luke and Joe tested the rod in Louisiana on jumbo redfish, jacks, and black drum to make sure it can handle big fish.
Final Thoughts
If you enjoy traveling and fishing, the last thing you want is to show up somewhere with incredible water and no way to fish it.
That’s exactly the problem the Slam Stick Traveler solves.
It packs down small enough to bring anywhere, but once it’s assembled, it performs like a true inshore rod capable of handling everything from sheepshead and snapper to big redfish and jacks.
So the next time you head out for a trip and spot fish blowing up along the shoreline…
You’ll actually be ready for it.

How long is the case?
The case is 33 inches long (3.5 inches in diameter).
Love my travel rod. Bought the 2nd butt end to make 2 complete rods. No problem as a carry-on in planes, goes nicely in the overhead bin. Light and really solid case. You guys hit a homerun with it in a needed market.
Thanks for sharing the helpful feedback on this rod. We’re glad to see that you’re liking it.
I have a great lakes, salmon fishing trip set up for September. I believe this ride will do the trick.
I’ve only been able to use it once so far. It sure feels like the most impressive rod I’ve bought so far
Thanks for sharing the helpful feedback on the slam stick travel rod.
Just curious, will the reel fit in the case?
I’ve got the same question. Will the reel fit in the case?
The case is specifically to keep all of the rod components protected while traveling. The reel can fit in any other case/bag along with lures, pliers, etc.
Added it to my Birthday list already.
Love my Slam Stick Traveler! And love that picture of Luke holding the travel rod like it’s a baby!
Definitely epic!!! 😂🤣😂
